Frequently asked questions about Sin gluten

Where can I buy gluten-free pantry staples online?

Right here. We carry 500+ gluten-free items, from naturally gluten-free whole foods like rice, quinoa, millet, buckwheat, beans, lentils, nuts and seeds to flours, pasta and baking mixes labeled gluten-free. Buying staples in 5, 25 or 50 lb bags keeps the cost per pound down, and standard shipping is free on orders over $99 to the lower 48 states.

Are your gluten-free products certified gluten-free?

Most aren't. Whole foods we pack ourselves, like quinoa and buckwheat, are naturally gluten-free but are packed in a facility that also handles wheat, and their pages say "Certified Gluten-Free: NO." Brand items such as Bob's Red Mill flours and Jovial pasta are labeled gluten-free by their makers. Our gluten-free steel cut oat groats are listed as certified. Always check the Additional Information on each page.

What's the difference between naturally gluten-free and certified gluten-free?

Naturally gluten-free foods, like rice, quinoa, beans and nuts, don't contain wheat, barley or rye, but they can pick up traces of gluten in fields, mills or packing rooms. FDA rules say anything labeled gluten-free must test below 20 parts per million of gluten. Certified gluten-free goes a step further: an independent program verifies the product and facility. If you have celiac disease, look for labeled or certified products.

Are oats gluten-free?

Oats don't contain gluten themselves, but regular oats are often grown and milled alongside wheat and barley, so they can carry traces of gluten. Choose oats labeled gluten-free. We carry Grain Millers gluten-free regular and quick rolled oats in 50 lb bags, Bob's Red Mill organic gluten-free rolled oats in 32 oz bags, and certified gluten-free steel cut oat groats.

Where can I find gluten-free pantry essentials that are organic?

Many of our naturally gluten-free staples are certified organic: organic quinoa, millet, buckwheat groats, amaranth, Lundberg brown rice, chia and flax seeds, and organic beans and lentils. For pasta, Jovial makes organic gluten-free brown rice and cassava pasta in shapes like penne, fusilli and spaghetti. Buckwheat, despite the name, isn't a type of wheat. Try our organic quinoa.

Do you sell gluten-free flour and baking mixes?

Yes. We carry Bob's Red Mill 1-to-1 Baking Flour (22 oz, 64 oz and 25 lb), Gluten-Free All Purpose Flour (44 oz and 25 lb), sorghum, teff, chickpea and brown rice flours, potato starch, gluten-free baking powder and baking soda, and Bob's gluten-free pancake mix. Cassava flour and almond meal are grain-free options. See our gluten-free baking mixes.
