DIY Oat Milk Recipe
When it comes to making your own oat milk, the magic ratio is that for every half cup of oats you use, you want to use 2 cups of water.
The other crucial element is that the colder your water, the better so you don't pre-cook your oats.
Lastly, do not blend the mixture for too long; the longer you blend, the slimier the milk will become.
Ingredients:
- 4 cups of water
- One cup of oats
- 30 - 50 ml of maple syrup (depending on your preferred sweetness)
- 1 tsp. salt
Directions:
- Add water and oats to your blender
- Add the maple syrup and salt
- Blend on high speed for about 30 seconds
- Pour the blended mixture over a sif lined with a cheesecloth, flour cloth, or clean t-shirt into a bowl.
- Repeat another time if necessary.
- Do not squeeze the milk through the cheesecloth, as again, this can make your milk slimy.
- Store in the fridge and use within 3–5 days.
