Mayan Magic Balm
Natural skincare with ancient ingredients is what our Mayan Magic moisturizing balm is all about.
This product uses the regenerative potential of plants and herbs. It contains 20% Tepezcohuite (also called Mimosa tenuiflora) , an ancient indigenous tree extract responsibly sourced from Mexico.
Its bark and fern-like leaves are believed to have many medicinal properties, and natives of Mexico call it the "skin tree."
Thousand of years ago, the Mayan culture used it to treat skin problems such as burns and rashes. In 1984 the Red Cross used tepezcohuite to treat 5000 burn victims caused by the big Mexico gas explosion.
Since then, researchers have explored this plant and its healing properties more in-depth and how it can aid other skin ailments.
It's mainly used to treat signs of skin aging and skin wounds, ulcers, and burns.
Tepezcohuite contains compounds, such as tannins and saponins. Both promote skin rejuvenation due to their antioxidant and antimicrobial effects.
Although limited trials have been done on the effectiveness of tepezcohuite, ancient treatments can't go unnoticed. And, many celebrities, Salma Hayak included, swore by its ability to regenerate skin cells which assists in anti-aging.
It also contains lipids that could benefit the skin by improving its barrier function.
This soothing balm combines tepezcohuite, shea butter, and vegetable-based emollients to work together to nourish and comfort dry, damaged skin.
It helps to relieve itch and calm skin rash or trauma. It's also paraben- and scent-free, so it's ideal for sensitive skin.
