A question we get a lot here at Country Life is, what is TVP? Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP) is an item we see here in various sizes and flavors and is used as a meat substitute.
For many, it is already a delicious staple in their weekly recipes, but for others it is a foreign concept. No matter where you fall in that, you will love this recipe! It is simple, delicious, quick, and makes yummy tacos for all to enjoy!
So let's give it a try!
Ingredients

2 cups TVP
- 2 cups water

2 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons olive oil

8 tsp taco seasoning

1 red pepper, cut into strips

1⁄4 cup salsa
Directions
1. Heat water in a large pan on medium heat.
2. Bring it to a boil, and then add the TVP.
3. Cook the TVP for 3 minutes, or until it is no longer hard.
4. Add the oil and soy sauce.
5. Add the taco seasoning and the peppers.
6. Cook for about 5 more minutes, making sure you are stirring continuously.
7. Once the peppers are cooked to your preference, remove from heat and mix in the salsa.
8. Serve with whatever you like and enjoy!
You can add this taco meat to hard shell tacos, soft shell tacos, taco salad, and much more! And of course with rice, beans, lettuce, tomato, and anything else you like on your tacos!
