Frequently asked questions about Organic

Where can I buy organic food online?

Right here. We're a family-run natural foods store in Pullman, Michigan, and we ship hundreds of certified organic pantry staples: grains, beans, lentils, flours, pasta, nuts, seeds, dried fruit, herbs, spices, oils and sweeteners. Many come in bulk sizes, so you can buy a 1 lb bag to try something or a 25 lb bag to stock up.

What organic products do you carry?

Our organic shelf covers the whole pantry: Lundberg organic rice, organic quinoa, oats, spelt, Kamut and einkorn, Jovial organic pasta, organic beans and lentils, nut and seed butters, Medjool dates and Turkish figs, organic herbs and spices, Bragg and DeLallo olive oils, Cadia preserves and broths, and natural sweeteners like coconut sugar and blackstrap molasses. There are snacks and candy too.

What does certified organic mean?

Under the USDA National Organic Program, certified organic foods are produced without most synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, without genetic engineering, irradiation or sewage sludge, and the farm and handler are checked by a USDA-accredited certifier. It's a standard for how food is grown and handled. Look for "Organic" in our product titles and "Organic: YES" under Additional Information on the product page.

Is organic food non-GMO?

Yes. USDA organic rules prohibit genetic engineering, so certified organic foods are produced without GMOs. Many of our conventional staples are non-GMO as well, which each product page lists as "Non-GMO: YES" in the Additional Information section. If avoiding GMOs is your main goal, choosing organic is the simplest way to be sure.

Where can I buy organic pantry staples for the best price?

Buying organic staples in larger bags is the easiest way to save. Our organic chickpeas, for example, come in 1, 5, 25 and 50 lb bags, and the bigger bags cost far less per pound. Sharing a 25 lb bag of oats or beans with family or friends works well too. Start with our bulk foods, where most staples have organic options.

Do you offer free shipping on organic groceries?

Yes. Standard shipping is free on orders over $99 to the lower 48 states, and there's no surcharge for heavy items, so a 50 lb bag of organic oats ships free too. With Country Life+ membership ($99 a year), every order ships free regardless of size, and express fulfillment is free as well. Most orders arrive in 5 to 7 business days.

How can I tell if a product is certified organic?

Check the product title and page. Certified organic items have "Organic" in the name, like Oats, Regular Rolled, Organic, and the Additional Information section lists "Organic: YES." Some products in this collection, such as a few herbs, oils and body care items, are conventional or natural rather than certified, so the product page is always the final word.
