About Oats

Oats from a family store since 1960

Oats are an everyday staple for oatmeal, granola, baking and homemade oat milk. Families, bakers and food businesses buy them here by the bag from a family-run natural foods store where we don't sell what we won't eat.

Frequently asked questions about Oats

Where can I buy oats in bulk?

Right here. We sell oats online in bags from 1 lb up to 50 lb: whole oat groats, steel cut oats, regular, quick and thick rolled oats, and oat bran, in both organic and conventional versions. Most cuts come in 5, 25 and 50 lb bags, and our organic groats, organic steel cut oats and oat bran also come in 1 lb bags. Start with our organic regular rolled oats.

Do you sell oats wholesale?

Yes. Bakeries, cafés, co-ops, schools and other businesses can apply for a wholesale account at business.countrylifefoods.com, with approval in 24–48 hours. There's no minimum order, discounts grow with order size, free shipping starts at $99, and pallet pricing and net terms are available for qualified accounts. Organic and conventional rolled, quick and steel cut oats, whole groats and oat bran all come in 50 lb bags.

Are your oats natural and non-GMO?

Yes. Our bulk oats are plain whole-grain oats with nothing added, so there's no sugar, flavoring or preservatives to work around. The product details on our conventional oats list them as Non-GMO, and our organic oats are certified organic, which doesn't allow genetically engineered ingredients. Add your own fruit, nuts or sweetener at home, or bake them into granola and cookies. See our regular rolled oats.

Do you sell organic oats and oatmeal?

Yes. Our organic oats include regular, quick and thick rolled oats, whole oat groats, steel cut oats and oat bran, mostly in 5 lb to 50 lb bags. If you need organic and gluten-free together, choose Bob's Red Mill Organic Gluten-Free Regular Rolled Oats (32 oz). Any of them makes a good pot of oatmeal: rolled oats cook fastest, while steel cut oats and whole groats are the chewiest. Try our organic steel cut oats.

What's the difference between oat groats, steel cut and rolled oats?

It comes down to how much the oat is cut or flattened. Whole oat groats are the full kernel with only the inedible hull removed, so they're chewy and take the longest to cook. Steel cut oats are groats chopped into pieces. Rolled oats are flattened into flakes: thick rolled are the heartiest, regular rolled are the all-rounder for oatmeal and granola, and quick rolled are rolled thinner so they cook fastest.

Which of your oats are gluten-free?

Only the oats labeled gluten-free. Oats are naturally gluten-free, but they're often grown and processed alongside wheat, barley and rye, so Beyond Celiac advises choosing oats labeled gluten-free if you avoid gluten. Ours are gluten-free regular rolled, quick rolled and steel cut oats in 50 lb bags, plus Bob's Red Mill Organic Gluten-Free Regular Rolled Oats (32 oz). Our other oats aren't labeled gluten-free. See our gluten-free rolled oats.
